Overview
Vaughan Merlyn’s focus is on transforming the performance of IT organisations, aligning information technology and business strategies, and the implementation of technology-enabled business change. He unites the important disciplines of IT management and organisational change management. Vaughan brings 35 years of IT strategy and management experience as an IT industry executive, researcher, author, educator and management consultant.
Vaughan has led many multi-client research projects and his publications include Development Effectiveness: Strategies for IS Organizational Transition, The Annual CASE Report, and numerous articles on organisational change and IT management. He is a popular management educator, and has addressed over 450 major conferences and seminars throughout the world.

Vaughan helps clients to strengthen business-IT relationships and increase the business value realised through IT investments and assets. He specialises in IT operating model design and increasing IT organisational clarity and performance through the use of Web 2.0 and 3.0 technologies.

Background
With a degree in Electrical Engineering, Vaughan started his career as a hardware design engineer. He moved into software engineering and joined a start-up software company where he quickly rose through the management ranks, leading Software Development, then International Sales and Marketing. Through this latter role, he relocated from London to the USA. After several successful years developing the US business, he established a management consulting company specialising in software development automation and IT productivity.
His consulting firm merged into Ernst & Young in 1990, and Vaughan became a Partner in the Center for Business Innovation, leading the firm’s research into IT effectiveness and organisational change management. He joined The Concours Group, a management consulting, research and executive education start-up in 1997, where he headed the firm’s IT practice. In 2009, he established Vaughan Merlyn Consulting, and became a founding partner of Formicio in 2010.
