It’s about helping people unlearn as well as learn
We all like to operate within our comfort zone and apply those ‘winning strategies’ that we have developed over the years. But what made us successful today may not be what we require to be successful tomorrow, and may in fact impede future success. Developing is therefore as much about unlearning as it is about learning, and a mentor can help in this process.
Proactive mentoring from Formicio
Our approach is different to the classical coaching approach as we bring our content knowledge and experience to the situation. We know that to be effective the mentor needs to fully understand the context and challenges facing the mentee. Only then can we advise and support in a way that is relevant and valuable to both the mentee and their organisation.
In addition to supporting people who have been assigned to a new role or assignment, or those struggling in their current role, we also provide support to teams. Typically these teams face a particular challenging objective, and they value having someone who has ‘done it before’ on hand to advise, challenge and support. While this is very different to team building, it invariably results in better team performance.
