Learning Journeys

Accelerate the learning process

Formicio’s Learning Journeys accelerate the learning process. We create a context where a group of people from the same organisation share experiences that build a specific organisational capability or solve a challenging problem. To quote Aristotle, the Greek philosopher:

“For the things we have to learn
before we can do them,
we learn,
by doing them.”

Each Learning Journey is bespoke

Our Learning Journeys are not open programmes. Each journey is designed specifically for an organisation. They are not simulations, exercises or games, but real situations that facilitate true learning.

Typically 8 to 10 people from the same organisation participate in a Learning Journey, which lasts for several months to allow for experimentation and reflection. Designed and facilitated by a Formicio learning guide, the blend of briefings, meetings, action learning assignments, study tours, discussions and experiential visits provide shared learning experiences.

Collective learning, a shared point of view

Shared learning experiences build collective capability and leadership through the development of common language, shared mental models and mindsets. They will give you a shared point of view, turning informed choices into action.

Case studies

Our team has designed, facilitated and guided many learning journeys for organisations around the world over the past 15 years. Examples include:

  • Previous Journeys

The Formicio team has designed, facilitated and guided many Learning Journeys for organisations around the world over the past 15 years.

Developing change communications capabilities at the UK Post Office

Introduction of a new Government Policy would result in fundamental changes to staff in the UK Post Office’s 17,000 outlets. The HR team knew that traditional approaches to communicating these changes would be ineffective. As a result of the Learning Journey they adopted an innovative learning technology successfully used in a number of large US retailers.

Developing the leadership capabilities of 35 top executives of a German financial services group

The CEO of a German financial services group recognised that he needed to develop the individual and collective leadership capabilities of his top 35 executives. As a result of the Learning Journey they were better able to lead transformational change, implement new innovative business operating models, deliver superior customer experience, and collaborate across organisational and functional boundaries.
